PURPOSE

The Alabama Fisheries Association, Inc. (AFA) is an organization of individuals from various fisheries and water resource-related groups dedicated to the development, conservation, and management of commercial and recreational fisheries in Alabama and the wise utilization and protection of fisheries and aquatic habitats. The AFA is incorporated as a non-profit educational organization and has tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service. Donations are tax deductible.

GOALS

  • Support the exchange of ideas, programs, and experience of the members concerning fisheries science, aquaculture, and water resources.
  • Organize and support technical forums relating to fisheries and aquatic resources.
  • Collect and disseminate fisheries-related information to the membership and other interested parties.
  • Develop public awareness regarding fisheries and aquatic resource issues.
  • Promote professional advancement of outstanding students with financial assistance through a scholarship fund. 

WHO SHOULD BE A MEMBER OF THE ALABAMA FISHERIES ASSOCIATION? 

Membership is open to all persons, including corporations, who are interested in the fisheries, aquatic habitats and water resources of Alabama.
